George Tillman
George is looking to start medical school in 2025! He has been with SOFtoSOM since it's inception and has a passion for Muay Thai Kickboxing!
Cameron Strawn
Cameron looks to start medical school in 2025; he has been with SOFtoSOM as a mentee since 2023. Cam is a man of many passions. He enjoys teaching others and spending quality time with his family. Cam is an Air Force service member with hopes of pursuing Opthalmology.
Joseph Maccarelli
Joe is an Army Green Beret who is set to begin his medical school journey in 2025! With a keen interest in general surgery and pediatrics, Joe is dedicated to advancing his medical career. Beyond his professional ambitions, Joe is passionate about traveling the world and exploring new culinary experiences, which he loves to experiment with when he’s back home.

Isabella McKinney
Isabella, a dedicated member of SOFtoSOM since its inception, is preparing to embark on her medical school journey in 2025. Hailing from Boston, Isabella has distinguished herself as a consummate professional and a remarkable researcher in brain health. Her commitment to advancing neurological research reflects her passion for making a meaningful impact in the field of medicine.
Patrick Murphy
Patrick Murphy, a distinguished Army Ranger and winner of the Army’s Best Ranger Competition, is preparing to start medical school next year. His remarkable achievements in the field and dedication to excellence exemplify his commitment to pursuing a career in medicine. Patrick’s journey from elite military service to medical school is a testament to his resilience and drive.
Shawn Campbell
Born in Augusta, GA, and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, Shawn Campbell serves in Naval Special Warfare (NSW) as a SWCC stationed in Virginia Beach, VA. With over 14 years in the Navy, including 11 years within NSW, Shawn previously served as a Hospital Corpsman in Washington State. He graduated from West Virginia University in 2009 and completed his graduate degree at Liberty University in 2020.
Outside of work, Shawn enjoys spending time with his growing family, which includes three kids with a fourth on the way. He and his wife love camping, hiking, skiing, and recently taught their daughters how to ski. An avid reader and tuba player, Shawn still enjoys reading traditional newspapers and coaching t-ball.
Peter Geurts
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Pete Geurts earned his undergraduate degree in History from UC Berkeley, where he also played football and received the FLAS Fellowship. After working as a project manager and enlisting in the Army, Pete completed his training at Fort Liberty and served as an 18D Special Forces Medical Sergeant at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He is now a full-time student with 19SFG(A).
Pete enjoys spending time with his son and family, shooting hoops, and exploring new hobbies like learning piano. His passions include languages, hiking, and reading. Pete is particularly interested in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine.
